Tavern puzzles became popular during the early colonial days when people were traveling more frequently from inn to inn. The innkeepers wanted the guests to stay longer at their inn. The first puzzle was made of horseshoes and a ring. Since then the tavern puzzles have evolved into complex fun mental exercises in four difficulty levels.
